Synopsis and Discussion

Air quality levels are ramping up once again Friday afternoon but should just hold in the upper YELLOW range as cloud cover increases and winds are more out of the west. Highs will still reach into the upper 80s s this high pressure continues to dominate our region. Cloud cover will increase for Saturday as well as a cold front slides towards us Saturday night and brings a chance for much needed rain into the Triad. The best chances for rain will be Sunday morning, when the front itself passes through the area. AQI levels will hold in the upper YELLOW range Saturday before improving back into the GREEN range Sunday. Sunday's highs will hold in the 60s as cooler air fills in behind the front. This cool down will help keep temperatures closer to the normal range for mid April. (Bodenhamer) *** Due to increased wildfire risk and severe drought across most of the state, the N.C. Forest Service has issued a statewide ban on all open burning and has canceled all burning permits statewide. ***
