Lower Code Yellow particle pollution levels are continuing to be observed across the Triad to round out the workweek. Ozone is hovering near the Code Green/Yellow threshold. An upper-level low will set up shop over the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys over the next several days. Predictability is quite low at this time for a very slow moving cold front that will advance eastward into our area sometime during the latter half of the weekend or beginning of next week. While a more substantial change of air mass would be delayed until after the frontal passage, there will be periods of showers and storms over the weekend, some of which could be on the heavier side. Enough rainfall is expected to occur to cleanse the atmosphere of fine particles and limit ozone production. Because the highest rain chances look to hold off until the second half of the day tomorrow, daily average fine particle concentrations are expected to net out in the lower Code Yellow range before decreasing to the upper Code Green range on Sunday and Monday.
